THE FAITH CYCLE

Faith in Jesus Christ begins with a desire. As we act upon that desire in FAITH, demonstrating “righteous action”, we are blessed with an abundance of the Holy Ghost. He whispers, “Good job. Keep going!”

Tomorrow I am giving a lesson to my Laurel class in Young Womens on what it means to have faith in Jesus Christ.

This lesson made me think of a time a few years ago that I drew this diagram on a blackboard when I was giving a fireside to some youth. I wanted them to understand what faith really was and how it was an VERB not a noun – an action word.

I want my girls to understand that:

When they go to church – THAT is faith.
When they pay tithing – THAT is faith.
When they forgive – THAT is faith.
When they pray – THAT is faith.
When they repent – THAT is faith.
When they read scriptures – THAT is faith.
When they keep the commandments – THAT is faith.
When they show love – THAT is faith.
When they serve – THAT is faith.

….and the list goes on.

Faith in Jesus Christ begins with a desire. As we act upon that desire in FAITH, demonstrating “righteous action”, we are blessed with an abundance of the Holy Ghost. He whispers, “Good job. Keep going!” That gift, then prompts us to love our Savior more and leads to more righteous action because of our increasing love for Him. From that comes an added measure of the spirit and our faith grows “brighter and brighter until the perfect day”. It all starts with one righteous action.

What builds your faith?
